COPING WITH GRIEF AT WORK:

For many of us, we are coping with grief at work. This year has been marked by hardship. As a leader, you need leadership skills and resilience for your team — this is what allows us to recover. Grief is a normal response to loss during or after a disaster or other traumatic event. It can happen in response to loss of life, as well as to drastic changes to daily routines and ways of life that usually bring us comfort and a feeling of stability. Some people may experience multiple losses during a disaster or large-scale emergency event. That’s why ignoring the elephant in the room is not going to serve you. We’re going to talk in-depth about the three most important tools that need to be used to manage your team and business successfully.

Common grief reactions include:

  • Shock, disbelief, or denial
  • Anxiety
  • Distress
  • Anger
  • Periods of sadness
  • Loss of sleep and loss of appetite
